Sports Camp
The Sports Camp offers a variety of over 40 sports that are played throughout the week. Preparation for Sports Camp 2024 involves attending a boot camp on early Wednesday mornings to ensure participants are in shape for the camp. Team selection required participating in trials and training sessions with dedication and effort. The cost of the camp included hoodies and track pants, as well as provisions for food, care, accommodation and sports involvement for the whole week. Thank you to our sponsors - Brougham Buses, Gary Bal - Century 21, Kat Paull Editing, In the Grain Building Services, Pope Packaging, Route 22 General Store, Stenson Contracting and Franklin Law (see logos below).
On the 10th of June, 34 fortunate students had the opportunity to go to a week-long sports camp in Matamata. The week was very tiring and exhausting, as we were constantly busy with various sports activities, including rugby, basketball, touch, and wall ball. The sports camp featured over 40 different sports, and our team made it to 10 finals, winning 5 of them. With a total of 10 teams at the camp, we were proud to finish 4th overall.
While we were there, we were tired with all the sports we were involved in over the week. Our bedtime was supposed to be 10pm, but there was no guarantee that the sports activities would end by then. Additionally, we had to wake up at 6:45am, and then try to get a full 8 hours of sleep amidst a whole day of sports, only taking breaks to eat. Our morning routine involved getting up and going to the meeting room to discuss the long day ahead. Afterwards, we had to carry out our assigned duties for the day. Once we were ready, we headed off to breakfast at 7:30am. After finishing breakfast, we went over to the lecture theatre to watch the highlights of the day followed by Quality Living where Kim Beale would conduct a quiz and share a Bible story with us, linking aspects of sports values to the story.
After an exhausting and tiring week of sports, we were finally ready to go back home. This involved packing up, attending the prizegiving, and loading the bags onto the bus. After double-checking everything, we were all set and ready to make the long drive back. The bus drive was 2 hours long, and when we got back, our parents picked us up and took us home. On the way home, we talked about how awesome the camp was and how it turned out to be a very fun and memorable experience.
In conclusion, Sports Camp was an amazing experience with lots of fun and memories made by all those who attended.

Mud Run 2024!
Yesterday was a fun filled day as a group of Year 3 to 6 learners hit the muddy hills of Ngaruawahia to participate in the Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge.
The sun was shinning and the mud was thick from the recent rains making it the perfect day for this event!
Our Karaka School learners did an outstanding job, by helping each other throughout the challenge.
Thank you to the parents who ran the race and to those who came along to support. Events like these wouldn’t be able to happen without you!
